TO
FFOtd
W:.lt Sellars
Don Lyderson
DATE January 11 1972
S1"T MR DIETRICH
CIIY OP E<LfiCli. C\'LR[iT. lVnti111NGTON

A Mr. Dietrich who lives at or near 1311 Pinkerton in Everett has been
maintaining a horse. This neighborhood apparently was inore of a residential
neighborhood. In any case, the neighborhood got up in arms somewhaL aUout
the horse and the city Urought charges against Mr. Dietrich on the Uasis of
maintaining a horse without sufficient square footage of property. Mr. Dietrich
removed the horse and subject to tliat reinoval the case vas either dismissed
or forfeited.
ThereafterMr. Dietrich has brought the horse back to the property, and I am
advised he has made arrangements viththe P. U. D, to lease additional property
so as to comply with the city ordinance. I am advised by soine of the neighburs
that there is a roadway running Uehveen the properties, vhi.:h they believe belongs
to the city of Everett, and they therefore Uelieve the property is not contiguous
property and therefore should not satisfy the requirements of the city ordinance.
Iwould appreciate it if you could review this with somebody in the engineering'"
departmet or other appropriate department to determine flie status and amount J
of land tha exists. I am also advised that Mr. Dietrich secured a Uuilding
perinit to build a garage, which in essence seems to be the barn that is being
used to shelter the horse or its feed.
The neighbors also indicate a severe proUlem in the summer witll flies and smell
due to the horse.
In general, any efforts we could Uring to cause removal of the horse would Ue to
the apparent Uenefit of the neighborhood.
l.-r{rJC c..i.{'1
C. u u U \/ o k h c. v-L I lu SC-CC, Y
^ uhrit„[Q 'Y.r-1 iCJN
n L.
l'
+ { 1 Jra)'u L(rY %4
C IC C O' 1 S Q
 t..
