Washington 98201
Attention: N'ir. Butch Dorety
Re: Everett Elderly Housiny
14th t Baker
Dear Six:
Reference is made t the above subject project
and specifically to the bathraom heaters in the
individual apa=tments. As you will recall, you in-
dicated on April 8, 1969 that the Berns-Air King
h'iodel HH-6 was not acceptable in the City of Everett
as it did not comply with Section 6-26 of the City
Code. After extensive investigation, we found the
following:
a. The heaters presently heing installed
on the ahove mentioned projeci: are
U/L listed, C.S.A. listed, and are
recagnized by NEhIA.
6. These heaters are 120 volts and are con-
trolled by a local 120 volt thermostat,
which breaks the ungrounded leg of the
electrical service to the heater and the
fan. In addition, there is a separate
toggle switch to disconnect the thermostat.
c. The heaters in question are beig ceiling
mounted in the individual apartment bath-
rooms, which will be used by Senior Cit-
izens only.
d. These apartment units are maitained by the
Housing Authority and, therefore, only
qualified personnel should be tampering
with the heaters, thus eliminating the
hazard of the ribbon element 6urniny a
tenant electrically.
