'fhe roof eaves are therefore not permitted on the northem side of the building and <br /> must be rcmoved. Sections 503.2.1 and 705 <br /> 5. Exterior walls located Icss than three feet from a property line must be of minimum one-hour <br /> fire-resistive construction. The new northem wall (from the plate to plate) must be provided <br /> with a layer of exterior 5/8" type X Gypsum sheathing attached to the sheuthing (and under the <br /> siding). An additional layer of '/z" Gypsum wall board (GWB) must also be attached to the <br /> interior side of the wall. Note that the window a;ea (interior side) would need to have two <br /> layers of 1/2" GWB attached. Sections 503.2.1, 703.2 &Tables 5-A & 7-7-W-(A-D) <br /> G. An electrical permit is required (see enclosed). The exact scope of the permit will be <br /> detennined after an inspection by a city electrical inspector. Once a permit is secured, you <br /> should call for this consultation inspection. At a minimum, the permit �vill include the <br /> following itcros: <br /> a. The exterior strike knobs must be rclocated to a height such that the po�ver <br /> servicc lines will be no lower than 10' to thc ground. <br /> b. A switched light must be provided to the attic area. <br /> c. A smoke d.:tector must be installcd in the attic area. It must be hardwired <br /> and provided with a battery backup. Section 3109.1.3 <br /> 7. The gas meter is currently located adjacent to the main entry door. The meter must be located a <br /> minimum of 5' from any opening into the building. A gas piping permi[ is required for this <br /> relocation. <br /> ADDITIONAL DWELLING UNIT SPACE <br /> 3. In addition to the above comments, if the second story is used as additional dwelling unit area <br /> (any usc other than attic storage) then the following comments will also apply. Note that thes: <br /> conditions are in effect in perpemity: <br /> 9. The e�isting foundation is not approved to support more than the existing one story and attic <br /> condition that existed previously to this remodel. The foundation will therefore be i�:quired to <br /> be brought into conformance with the most current code requirements upon change to dwelling <br /> unit space. Permirs will be required. Section 3�103.2 <br /> l0. The attic area does not currendy meet requirements for d���elling unit space. Additional permits <br /> will be reyuired to ensure that all adopted code requirements are met (electrical, building, <br /> mechanic:il, ctc). <br />
