( � <br /> The type of sprinkler to be installed wili be determined by the Building Official. It may be an NFPA 13, <br /> NFPA 13R, or NFPA 13D system depending upon several factors. Sprinkler installatiun shall not begin <br /> without an approved and stamped set of plans from the Engineering & Pubtic Services Department. The <br /> Fire Department will also review the pians and shall field inspect the instailation based only on approved <br /> plans that must be on site. Changes to plans must be approved by both the En9ineering & Public <br /> Services and Fire Departments. <br /> Aboveground sprinkler piping snall be hydrostatically tested as established in NFPA Standard 13. <br /> Underground piping shail be hydrostatically tested and flushed as established in NFPA Standard 24 for <br /> private fire mains. {gelow-qround pipina must be installed bv Washinaton State Patrol Licensed <br /> Underqround Sprinkler line certified "U"installers. Size of fire spi inkler service and meter(2-inch or greater) shall be calculated by a civil engineer or tire <br /> sprinkler designer who is solely responsible for this calculation. The City of Everett Public Works <br /> Department does not review these calculations and is not the authority having jurisdiction. All buildings <br /> three units or larger that are required to have a fire sprinkler must have a separate fire service. Fire <br /> services larger than 2" must conform lo City of Everett Public Works Standards 515 and 523. The (ire <br /> service side of the system must have a slate-approved backflow prevention device. <br /> 28. Standpipe systems shail comply with NFPA 14. <br /> 29. For fire safety in mulli-family projects with community laundry facililies, the following is required: <br /> a. A self-closing, solid core door shall be installed`or the laundry room. Any restraining device shall be <br /> activated by an approved smoke delector. <br /> b. A covered metal container shail be provided for the disposal of combustible waste in the laundry <br /> room. <br /> 30. Construction and demolition of buildings shall be in compliance wilh the provisions of lhe 2006 <br /> International Fire Code, Chapler 14. <br /> 31. Permits are reyuired from the Fire Department for removal and installation of underground fuel tanks. <br /> 32. Abandoned tanks shall be pumped out and lhe fuel properly disposed of prior to removal. No product or <br /> rinse waler may be disposed of in such a way that it could enter the slorm drains system. <br /> 33. All fire alarm control panels (FACP) and sprinkler vaives shall be in heated rooms or closets with <br /> standard man door access. Locations shall be approved by the Fire Code Official. <br /> 3A. The location of Fire Department connections (FDC) and post indicator vaives (PIV) shall be determined <br /> by the Fire Code Official. If immediate outside mandoor access is available to the sprinkler valves <br /> (risers), a PIV will not be required. <br /> �� <br />
