( <br /> The type of sprinkler to be installed will be determined by the Building O�cial. It may be an NFPA 13, <br /> NFPA 13R, or NFPA 13D system depending upon several factors. Sprinkler installation shall not begin <br /> without an approved and stamped set of plans from the Engineering 8 Public Services Department. The <br /> Fire Department will also review the plans and shall field inspect the instailation based only on approved <br /> pians that must be on site. Changes to plans must be approved by both the Engineering 8 Public <br /> Services and Fire Departments. <br /> Aboveground sprinkler piping shall be hydrostatically tested as established in NFPA Standard 13. <br /> Underground piping shail be hydrostatically tested and flushed as established in NFPA Standard 24 for <br /> private fire mains. Size of fire sprinkler service and me;?r(2-inch or greater) shall be calculated by a civil engineer or fire <br /> sprinkler designer who is solely responsible for ihis calculation. The City of Everett Public Works <br /> Department does not review these calculations and is not the authority having jurisdiction. All buiidings <br /> three units or larger thal are required to have a fire sprinkler must have a separate fire service. Fire <br /> services larger than 2"must conform lo Cily of Everett Public Works Standards 515 and 523. The tire <br /> service side of the system rnust have a state-approved backflow prevention device. <br /> 28. Standpipe systems shall comply with NFPA 1A. <br /> 29. For fire safety in multi-family projects with community laundry facilities, the following is required: <br /> a. A self-closing, solid core door shall be installed for the laundry room. Any restraining device shall be <br /> activated by an approved smoke detector. <br /> b. A covered metal container shall be provided for the disposal of combustible waste in the laundry <br /> room. <br /> 30. Conslruction and demolition of buildings shall be in compliance wilh the provisions o(lhe 2006 <br /> International Fire Code, Chapter 14. <br /> 31. Permits are required irom the Fire Department for removal and installation of underground fuel tanks. <br /> 32. Abandoned tanks shall be pumped out and lhe fuel properly disposed of prior to removal. No product or <br /> rinse water may be disposed of in such a way that it could enter the storm drains system. <br /> 33. All fire alarm control panels (FACP) and sprinkler valves shall be in heated rooms or closets with <br /> standar� man door access. Localions shall be approved by the Fire Code Official. <br /> 34. The location of Fire Department connections (FDC) and post indicator valves (PIV) shall be determined <br /> by the Fire Code Official. If immediate outside mandoor access is available lo the sprinkler valves <br /> (risers), a PIV will not be required. <br /> �� <br />
