, r .
July 7, 1980
Paqe Seven
Cha_rman Russell read a memo from the Engineering and Public Nlorks
Department stating the parkinq in the area is highly controversial
with businesses iiot having enough off-street parking adjacent to
the exempt CBD zone. Their feeling is that thc request for a
parking variance in this area shauld be denied.
tlr. and Mrs. Paoadimitriou of 3113 Oakes were against the granting
of the variance as they felt the neighborhood is impacted with too
many cars now with not enough off-street parking. This new pro-
posal will generate even more traffic witt not enough off-street
parking provided.
 Mr. Bhend responded by stating:
1. The zoning is R-5 and this parmits high rise units to
be constructed.
2. '"he future will show crowding. .
3. He will not create a people problem with only four (4)
off-street parkin,q spaces, as a comparison to asking
for sixteen (16) or twenty-fi.ve (25) off-street parking
stalls.
There was no further comment fro:n the audience.
After visually viewing the subject property and coqsi.dering all the
facts and testimony, it was moved by D1r. Zook and seconded by ?dr.
Russell to deny the applicant' s renuest as it does .not meet all
the requirements of Section 19.70. 060 of the Everett Municipal Code,
Paragraphs 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Mr. Ekstrom was for the granting of the variance, however, the
majority of the Board tvere for the denial. ,
The Chairman asked if Johnnie Griffith was now in the audience and
she was not. The Board chose to postpone the hearing of Ms.
Griffith until the August 4, 1980 meeting. .
On motion the meeting adjourned at 9:].0 p.m. .
/C-•-^---`^ „J C:t-t.i...JCww .
Kenneth SJ.
