A stairway constructed o! wooden stnngers and supported by a steel post <br /> allows access to the top of the mezzanine. <br /> Excep[for lhe mezzanine in the southern portion of Ihe building,the interior of Ihe building is largely <br /> open space used for indoor painlball matches. The slab on-grade is covered by Astroturf-type material <br /> on top of padding wilh inflatable barriers intermediately spaced across the floor. <br /> 2. Location of Fire <br /> The fire that ocwrred in the interior of the building largely i <br /> remained in the building's southemmost bay. As described � <br /> above,the wooden mezzanine exists in this bay. The area <br /> below the mezzanine housed the administrative and front- <br /> end space for the facility,and is Iargeiy un-burnL but shows <br /> signs of smoke and water damage. The aiea oi,lop of the <br /> mezzanine was used for storage and for office space,and <br /> has been destroyed by fire. The west{+ortion of the <br /> southemmost bay was not occupied by the mezzanine,and <br /> was used for storage,including the storage of compressed <br /> �+as cylinders. Observed Damage <br /> 13ecause the tire occurred in the interior of the building,mostly in the southemmos[bay,the slructural <br /> damage is primarily concentraled in this portion of Uie building. Damage to the struclure caused by <br /> the fire is itemized below. <br /> A. Southermnost 3 Pin Arch <br /> This arch de0ects noticeably oulward from the building. The coluinns at this location appear <br /> straight, but the girAers start to twist above the elbow joint. This condition is marked as ilem <br /> A on the building plan located in Appendix A.
