The purpose of this investigation was to determine the presence of jurisdictional
wetlands or streams and their classification as described in the Ciry of Everett Environmentally
Sensitive A:eas Ordinance, 1838-91. The Wa hi ton State Deprtment cf . .coloev Wetland
Delineation Manual, 1997 edition, was used in the deter[ttination of critical azeas. A wedand and an
intermittent stream were identiGed on site. The wedand and stream are part of the headwaters to
Wood Creek. The wetland meets the definition of a Category II riparian wedand ty;cally receiving
75-foot protective buffers in the City of Everett. The on-site stream meets the definition of a
Category 1V stream. Category IV streams are naturally occurring intermittent swales typically
receiving 10-foot protective buffer in the Ciry of Evere[t. The on-site stream flows off site ro the
north and joins Wood Creek just north of the property boundary. The on-site wetland continues off
site to the north and is part of the headwaters/riparian wetland of Wood Creek.
The Caiegory IV stream enters the property along the southern property boundary and flows in a
northerly direction. The stream does not have a clearly defined channel in the southern portion of the
site. The stream may be characterized as a vegetated swale dominated by Phalaris arnndinacea. The
on-site portion of the wetland occurs approximately at the toe of the fill on the westem and northern
poriion of the site as shown on the attached map. Toward the southem portion of th site, the wetland
ends, nanowing down ro the vegetated svale/Category IV stream. The omsite portion of the wetland
is dominated by Salix spp., Spiraen douglasii, and Phalaris arnndinacea. Off-site, the wed;nd
becomes morc forested vith an overstory of Popdus balsarnifera and Alnus rubra.
Y
