' ' _ . ',
1 drains, conventional wall drains consisting of perforated pipe placed at the inside, bottom
of the wall, and pemanent intercepror ditches/trenches. Detailed grading ard drainage
` recommendations are provided in subsaurnt sections of this repot. We have also included I
, tecommendations to prevent significant erosion.
 2. The proposal addrases the existing geologial constraints of the site, including an
assasrt►ent of soils and hydrology.
i-
!
Refer to the "Site Conditions"section of this report for a complete discussion of soils
— and hydrology at the site. We rccommend the following site preparation, earthwork, and
i, drainage procedures be impiementcd to address the geological constraints of the site: ;
Areas to receive structural fill should be stripped of vegetation and
strucmral CII should be placcd on ezisting slopes by terracing into
competent nacive soils. This should be accomplished by constructing a
series of horizontal benches cut into the slope gredient and placing
stuctural fill in horizontal lifts. The ezposed stratigraphy of the
subsurface soils should be observed and evaluated by a geotechnical
' enbineer to identify areas where subsudace dninage measures are
appropriate (e.g., installation of interceptor ditches). Drainage facilities
for control of boch surface and subsurface water should be installal.
I
These include footing and wall drains, and a properly designed detention
i
system.
i
 3. The proposed method of construction wilt reduce erosion potential, lardslide and seismic
i ' haard potential, and wili improve or not adversely aPFxt the stebility of slopes.
I
- As mentioned in the text of this report, the final grading plan will result in
. development that is mon stabte (statically and seismically) than the existing conditions. ,
Specific erosion control masura are also diuussed in the text of the reEwrt.
r We recommend that all surface water nmoff be intercepted by adequately designed
swales, interceptor ditches, or footing dnins that tightline to a suitable discharge or
detention system. Collxted sudace or subsudace water sho:ld not be dischuged on the
slope face. The stability of slopes will be improved by proper 1►andling of all surface and
subsurface water. Also, the stability of slopes will be improved by grading them ilatter and
by utilizing properiy daigned retaining wells, thereby reducing slope gradients at the site.
i
` 4.
