UG-11-145 1<98
.lb
REMCO JN 99281
, July 26, 1998 Page 5
The site soils are silty and therefore moisture serisitive; it may be beneficial to covar footing
subgrades with a thin layer of crushed rock to protect them from dislurbance.
Geotech Consultants, Inc. should be allowed to reviaw the final development plans ta verify that the
recommendations presented in this roport are adequetely addressed in the design. Such a plan
review would be additional wcxk beyond the current scope of work for this study, and it may inciude
revisions to ou recommendations to accemmodate site, devetopment, and geotechnical
constraints that become mora ei:dent during the review process.
LIMITATIONS
The analyses, conGusions, and recemmendations contained in this report are based on site
conditions as they existed at the time of our exploration and assume that Ihe aoil and groundwater
conditlons encountered in the test pits are representative of subsurface conditions on the site. If
the subsurtace conditfons enCountered during constvction are significant!y diNerent irom those
observed in our exploreNons, we should he advisad at once so that we can review these cenditions ;
and reconsider our recommendations where necessary Unanticipated soi! conditions are
c^mmonly encountered on constn:ctian sites and cannOt be 'uliy anticipated by merely taking soil
sampies in test pits. Subsurface conditions can also vary between exploretion locations. Such
unexpected conditions frequently require makig additional expenditures to attain a properl;
constructed project, it is recommended ;hat the owner consider provid(ng a contnger.cy fund to
accommodate such potent±al extra costs and risks. This is a standard recommendation for all
projects.
This report has been prepared 1or the exciusive use of REMCO, and its representatives, (or specific
application ta this project and site. Our recommendations and Conciusiens aro baed on observed
site materials, and selective engineering analyses. Our conciusions and recommendations are
professional Opinions derroed in accordance with current standards of practfce within the scope of
our services and within budgRt and time cons:raints. No warranty is expressed or implied. The
scope of our services does not include services reiated to construction safety precatior.s, and our J
recornmendation5 are not intended to direct the contractors methads, techniques, sequenes or
procedures, except as specifieally described ir. our reporl tor consderetion in design. Tnis report :
should be provided to any (uture property owners to inform lhem of our findinss and '
recommendations. Additionally, this report should be provided in the project ontract decuments i
for Ihe information of the contractor.

AtlDIT10NAL SERVICES I
In addtion to roviewing the final pians, Geotech Consuitanis, Inc. should be retained to provide I
geotechnical consultalion, testn.? and observation services during costruction. 7h?s is to confirm
that subsurface conditions are consistent with those indicated by our exploretion, to evauate
whether earthwork and foundation constructicn activities comply with the 9eneral intent of the
recommendations presenied in this report, and to provide u3ystions for design changes in the
event subsurface conditions diffe trom thcse anticipated prior t the stat of construction
Nowever, our work would not include the supervision or direction of the actual Hork of the
contrector and its employees or agenfs. A'so, job and site safety, ad dimensional measuremen;s
will be the responsiC:lit of the contractoc •
GEOTECH CGNSULZANTS,INC.
