Construction staging areas must bc located outside of environmentally sensitive areas and their <br /> buffers, unless determined by the Planning Director to be infeasible. Streams, wetlands, buffers, <br /> staging areas and conswction limits shall be clearly shown on construction plans. Construction <br /> limits shall be clearly marked in the field w�ith urange construction fencing. <br /> Work shall be done so as to minimize turbidity, erosion, and other water quality impacts. <br /> Pron�r erosion :�nd sediment control measures shall be followed to prevent sediments from entering <br /> crecks or wetlands. Erosion control mcasures shall be approved by the Department of Enginecring <br /> and Public Services znd%or agencies with jurisdiction. Measures may include, but not bc limited to, <br /> placing plywood across the area where equipment will operate; mulching the wetland areas where <br /> equipment �vill operate; placing�vood chips atop a (lexible mat h hclp prevent compaction (the <br /> wood chips and mat must be removed following construction); pl�cing silt fences and hay bales <br /> between construction areas and all adjacent wedands and streams; and placing ecology blocks <br /> behveen construction areas and streams or���eqands when a temporay fill is •�sed for roads, etc. <br /> Erosian control measures shall be in place and inspected prior to commencement of work. All <br /> erosion control structures shall be inspected regularly to ensure they are maintained in working <br /> order. <br /> t�tl�e corridor needs to be dewatcred to do the work, the water should be pumped to a <br /> sedimentation pond where all solids can setUe or an area where it can sheet flow before being <br /> discharged back to the stream or wetland. Turbidity levels in associated wetlands and streams <br /> shall not exceed the standards in WAC 173-201A. <br /> Any excavation materials must be placed in an upland area during construction. Wetland soils <br /> must be in separate piles from upland soils. A(ler construction, wedand soils should be retumed to <br /> thc wedand and uoland soils placed in upland areas. At a minimum, the top 18 inches of topsoils <br /> Gom wetland areas shall be stored separately Gom the rest of the soils and replaced as the top layer <br /> of fill in d�e �vetlands following construction. Care nmst be taken not to make "dams" from <br /> i:ompactcd fill that would alter any subsurtace flow. <br /> I f a pipe is being trenched through the azca, measums shall be taken to pre��ent the de-watering of <br /> liie wctland (e.g. cut off collars, etc.). <br /> When operating machinery in or near water, extremc care shall be taken to prevent any petroleum <br /> products, cetuent, chemicals, or oUier toxic or delcterious materials from entering the water. If a <br /> spill docs occur, work shall be stopped immcdiately and Ecology's Spill Response Section <br /> contacted. <br /> Equipment maintenance shall not occur in or adjacent to wedands and streams. <br /> ARcr construction, the site must be retumed to its original grades. Care must be taken to not drain <br /> wctlands or alter water flows or pattcros. <br /> s <br />
