TO Frank Bennett
FRoh, Douglas A. Budden
DATE May 20, 1974
suD"`T Mr. Nicholas Complaint
everett
CITY OF EVERETT. EVERETT, WASHINGTON e
We A of May 13, 1974 thru May 20, 1974
Tal}.'nd with manager of Alfys Pizza Restaurant about the embankment
at the rear of their establishment. I advised him of the complaints
about the condition of the bank. I also pointed out the problem of
soil erosion that is rapidly destroying the bank and is endangering
the parking area. I recommended that they investigate the possibility
of planting grass or folliage on the bank to prevent further erosion.
He stated that they realized that something will have to be done to the
embankment.
Talked with Traffic Engineering Department (Rowell Paine) and was
informed that to shield or otherwise restrict the street lights would
also impair the lighting of the street. Mr. Paine expressed an
opinion that 900 feet was a considerable distance from the lights
on Evergreen Way for them to be directly casting light on Mr. Nicholas'
property.
Obtained legal descriptions and list of owners of t'e?e properties
involved on Evergreen Way.
Talked with Mr. George Fitzhugh who leeses the property being occupied
by Suzuki Mortorcycle Shop. He informed me that Mr. Warren S. Cook
owns the property, he also owns the property north (Alfys) and south
(Earl Meyers).
This property is all leased out.
Talked with Earl Meyers secretary. She stated Mr. Meyer still holds
a lease on the property but is trying to sub -lease. I requested that
she inform Mr. Meyer that he advise any future tenant that the yard lights
should be adjusted in such a manner that they are not disturbing to
the residents on Beverly Lake.
Talked again with Manager of Suzuki .Motorcycle and requested he do
his utmost to keep the bank free of debris.
The problem of lights with respect to Haight -Anderson Mazda seems to
have been resolved.
To a large extent the problem of debris on the embankment seems to be
caused by neighborhood children, taking cartons etc. and sliding down
the bank.
This inspection did not reveal any clear-cut violations of City Ordinances.
