Soil
underlying this site are moisture sensitive and once disturbed may exhibit diminished or altered
engineering characteristics. Due to the potential of encountering soil related problems during wet
weather development, wet weather construction is generally not recommended. If site work is undertaken
during extended periods of wet weather, additional costs should be anticipated relating to work on and
with moisture sensitive soil. If exposed surficial or shallow subsurface soil becomes moisture disturbed
during site work, we recommend that GES, Inc. be contacted to develop appropriate recommendations
given the observed conditions and desired end result. Certain elements of the project may not be able to
be completed without considerable effort and additional expense under these circumstances.
4.2 Site Preparation
Based on the supplied site plans as of the writing of this report, we understand that site preparation will
include some clearing, grubbing and the excavation of uncontrolled fill and soil for the placement of
building foundations. Clearing and grubbing will include the removal of a couple of trees and small
amounts of surficial vegetation Rough grading of the building envelope will involve the removal of
uncontrolled fill from the site — in most areas over IS 11. in depth The uncontrolled fill contains
significant amounts of deleterious materials Side slopes of excavations should be considered unstable.
Site preparation work should be undertaken only by experienced contractors that are familiar with
working around deep excavations and with uncontrolled fills. The earthwork contractor should be
required to read this geolechnical report. GES, Inc. is available to answer any questions that the
contractor may have regarding this report and its ieconunendations. Work around all excavations on the
site should carefully follow all pertinent recommendations contained in this report.
7 GES, Inc.
