Corner 35 ' SI. and Nassau St.
Evcren, lyashinglou
Due to the sensitivity of the uncontrolled till slopes, the proximity of the residence to the north of the site
and the possibility that uncontrolled fill extends into the City of I?verctt Right -of -Way, we recommend
that site preparation be observed on a twice daily basis by GF.S, Inc. - until material stability
characteristics and excavation safety can be reasonably discerned. Excavation should proceed until
bearing soil are exposed and confirmed by GES, Inc. Bearing soil consists of medium dense, damp to
moist, gray brown, very fine- to fine-grained sandy silt to silt with discontinuous lenses of very fine-
grained sand. This soil should be confirmed by GES, Inc. prior to placement of any structural fill/baekfill
to reach required site grades or before and foundation forms are set as per the recommendations contained
in section 4.3 of this report.
The surlicial soil found within the majority of the building envelope consists of uncontrolled fill with
significant amounts of deleterious materials (refer to the test pit logs contained in Appendix D of this
report). In our opinion, these uncontrolled soils and materials are not suitable for use beneath a
residential structure — we would therefore recommend that they be removed from within the proposed
building envelope. Given site grades and the proposed site development, the materials removed during
initial site clearing and grading will not be suitable fix placement elsewhere on site and should be
aispos deof at a permitted site or licensed recychnc1, a recommend that a copy of the site fill
permit of facifi Icense 1c supp re to the owner print to allowing the contractor to take any materials off
site to a disposal facility.
Excavation and/or grading should be accomplished in such a manner as to allow continued and controlled
drainage throughout the site. Unchained water left standing upon exposed soil will cause them to become
moisture disturbed. Please refer to Section 4.1 of this report if concerns arise about moisture disturbed
soils, Uncontrolled run-otl' over the slope along the back of the lot could result in excessive erosion of
soil and/or local destabilization of the slope. Frosion control and drainage controls should be installed
following the recommendations contained in section 4.9 of this report. If conditions develop during the
initial stages of site work that cause concern to the owner or the contractor, work should be stopped and
GES, Inc. should be contacted to view the area of concern and develop recommendations specifically
designed to remedy the area of concei n. once the issues of concern have been addressed by GES, Inc. --
site preparation may continue
9 GES, Inc.
