' Preliminary Geotechnical Engineering Evaluation
1919 MuHteo Boulevard
Everett, Washington
' INTRODUCTION
' This report presents the results of our geotechnical engineering investigation and evaluation of the
proposed Johnson residence in Everett, Washington. The project site is located at 1919 Mukilteo
Boulevard, as shown on the Vicinity Map in Figure 1. The purpose of this study is to explore and
characterize the site's surface and subsurface conditions and to provide geotechnical recommendations for
' site development.
The site is situated on a gentle to steep north -facing slope overlooking Possession Sound. The site
consists of two residential lots and is currently occupied by an existing residence and shed. The planned
improvements will include the removal of the existing structures and the construction of a new one-story,
5,000-square-foot, single-family residence on the two -lot property. Specific plans for the project were not
available at the time this report was prepared. For our use in preparing this report, we have been provided
with an untitled, undated site plan showing the property lines and the existing structures.
SCOPE
The purpose of this study is to explore and characterize the site surface and subsurface conditions, and
provide general recommendations for site development. Specifically, our scope of services includes the
following:
1. Review existing soils and geologic maps of the area.
2. Explore the site subsurface soil and groundwater conditions with three geotechnical
borings. The drill rig was subcontracted by NGA.
3. Map the existing conditions on the steep slope and prepare cross -sections.
4. Provide recommendations for site grading and earthwork, including structural fill.
5. Provide recommendations for foundation support and slabs -on -grade subgrade.
G. Provide recommendations regarding structure setbacks from the top of the steep slope.
7. Provide recommendations for retaining walls.
NELSON GEOTECHNICAL ASSOCIATES, INC.
