i
SHANNONWILSON,INC.
I 3.0 PROJfiCI' DE_SCRIP'I'ION

We understand that the proposed project inwlves the construcdon of two new buildings with
Iassociated parldng and drive areas (Figure 1). Both buildings are planned as recfangular,
single-story, light industrial structures with slab-on-grade construction. Loads for the
proposed structums are not known at this 6me. The south building will be approximately
I 540 fit by 300 feet in plan dimension, with a finished 800r elevation ranging from 620 to
625 feet. Its wnstrucdon will involve up to 20 feet of cutting and up to 15 feet of Slling.
I The north building will be approximately 310 feet by 230 feet in plan dimension, with a
finished floor elevation tanging from 600 to 605 feet. Its construction will inwlve up to 10
Ifect of cutting and 15 feet of Slling. Farthwork operations for the proposed parking and
drive areas will inwlve cuts of up to 40 feet and fills of up co 15 feet. We understand that
no rehdining walis are planned for the site.
I4.0 RA . IT . rFni nr:v
IThe ama in the vicinity of the Intrawest Seaway site conqins glacial and nonglacial deposits
as old as 100,000 years. 'The oldest deposifs exposed on the site, layered sand and gravel,
Iare about I5,000 years old, laid down during the Vashon Stade of the Fiaser Glaciation.
They are the products of outwash streams from an advancing glacial ice front and are called
Vashon Advance Outwash (commonly refemed to as outwash in this report). Ovedying the
sand and gavel is Vashon lodgement 6I1 and other glaciall}-consolidated, dll-like soils that
localY termed "nardpan." For the purpose of this report, both the till and till-like soils
have been grouped together because the properties and behavior of the tw soils are simitar.
Both the till and outwash are very dense, having been overridden by about 3,000 feet of icc.
The till generally caps the Inttawest Seaway plateau, while the side slopes are comprised of
both outwash and till.
I
Following deglaciation, natural slope processes, such as creep, erosion and landsliding,
Icreated colluvial deposits, and surface water produced alluvial deposits. The colluvium
nmains on or at the toe of the steep slopes, and the alluvium is pmsent in the stream
Icourses, such as Merrill Creek. 1'hese post-glacial deposits are usually loose to medium
dense and of variable grain-size distribution.
I
W-6693-01
3
