42. Based upon 155•0000 squarc feet of Type y�[, sprinklered construction, the fire flow <br /> requirement is 4,QQQ GPM. <br /> 43. The Everett Municipal Cocie and the UniForm Fire Code require that fire hydran�s be <br /> provided within a m�imum distance and of sufficient number and spacmg to all new <br /> construction. The distance and number of hydrants varies based on type of <br /> construcdon and occupancy of the structure. <br /> Four (4) fire hydrants aze required for each building, and must be lceated within 200 <br /> driving feet, but not closer than 50 feet, of every swcture. The final locadon of the <br /> hydrants must be approved by the Fire Marshat. <br /> 44• A sprinkler system complying with UBC Standard 38-1 and/or NFPA Standard l3 must <br /> be provided. <br /> Plans for any such system must be submitted to the Building Department and the <br /> Everett Fire Department for examinadon and approval. Such plans must include plans <br /> for the underground mains that will supply the sprinkler system. <br /> As of]anaury, 1991, sprinkler system permits are issued by the Building Department. <br /> Plan review fees are assessed by the Building Department. No fee is assessed by the <br /> Fire Department. <br /> Above ground sprinkler piping must be hyJrostatically tested as established in NFPA <br /> Stanciard 13. Underground pipi��g must be hyclrostatically tested anJ flushed as <br /> established in NFPA Standard 24 for private fire mains. All such tests must be <br /> witnessed by a Fire Department inspector. Cat1259-8710 to make an appointment for <br /> inspection. <br /> Contractors' materials and test certificates must be submitted to the Everett Fire <br /> Department prior to issuance of any Certificates of Occupancy. <br /> Call 259-8726 for more information. <br /> 45. An approved automadc fire detection system must be provided as reyuired by Chapter <br /> 16.76 of the Everett Municipal Code. Plans for such system must be submitted to the <br /> Fire Marshal for review and approval prior to installadon. Submittal shall include cut <br /> sheets of all equipment intended for use. Appropriate trip tests, witnesseci by a Fire <br /> Department in.spector, must be performed prior to final acceptance of the system. <br /> Fire alarm systems must be installed under permit of the City of Everett Building <br /> Department. Electrical inspections and approval aze required prior to calling for <br /> acceptance tests. Ca11259-8810 for permit informadon. <br /> 46. A portable fve exdnguisher with a minimum UL rating of 2-A must be proviJed within <br /> 75 feet travel distance on each floor of all portions of each building during <br /> construction. <br /> 47. Fire lanes must be provided as required in Everett Municipal Code 46.44. Fire lanes <br /> must be idenufiecl by red curt>s with white stenciling stadng "NO PARKING - FIRE <br /> LANE" and vertical signs stating "NO PARKING - FIRE LANE - TOW AWAY <br /> ZONE."
