The site has now been cleaned by excavating the <br /> contaminated material and repiacing it with clean fill. The clean- <br /> up was an independent effort by We��erhaeuser and reviewed by the <br /> Washington Department of Ecology (DOE). The clean•up was <br /> completed in September,1992. <br /> A Draft and Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) were <br /> completed in 1991 for the North County Transmission Project, <br /> which evaluated the transmission system improvements that this <br /> station wiil support. <br /> 9. Give a brief, complete description of your proposal, including ihe proposed uses and the <br /> size of the project and site. <br /> The North Everett switching station will provide more eflective <br /> distribution of electricity and better capability to isolale and <br /> repair outages. This upgrade does not increase the capacity of the <br /> distribution system. <br /> The proposed switching station site has been an industrial siie for <br /> decades under Weyerhaeuser's management. The site was <br /> contaminated previously with industrial materials, primarily <br /> calcium byproducts. This materiai was recently excavated and <br /> cleaned irom the site. Weyerhaeuser has agreed to provide a clean <br /> site to the District for their use. The contractor compieted the <br /> work in mid September. The Distrfct wfil require verification of <br /> the clean-up prfor to the purchase of the property. <br /> 2 <br />
