Test Pits 3B and 3C
Test Pits 3B and 3C wero located dirocUy noith and east, resptivety, of Tac• Pit 3. Construction debris
was encouoterod between 1 and 6 feet bge in Tat Pit 3B and betwooa 0.5 and 5 fcet bgs in Test Pit 3C.
Brick and wood wero obsei.,opoogoer construction debris, Petmleum hydrocarbons
— and VOCs wero not detected in samples alxted {ram either test pit.
5.1.4 Test Pit 4
^ Test Pit 4 was located et the western end of the north pasxL Construction debris was eacountered
between 0.5 end 2 feet bgs. 1Le sample copected at four feet bgs consisted of native soils. Petroleum
_ hYdns were not detecced in dther sample collxted from this test pit. lusenic was detectei in the
sample collectal at 2 fret bgs at a concentcation of 23 ppm.
5.2 HANp.AUQER BORWOS
Six hand-auger borings and one dupGcate hand auger boring were complded at the Site, afl in native soils.
Samples collected fi+om the hand-auger boringe we+e composited from discrete semples collceted et 1, 2 and
3 fat bgs. Based oa subsurface sampe copection, naGve soils appear to be unifurm over the site. T'he soils
are a dedc reddish-brown, siity send to a depth of approximately 1 foot bgs. At 16is depth, the soils appeared
a lightw brown, silty sand.
^ 5.2.1 }d-Au¢er Borin d
Hand-auger boriags one, two and thcix(Hp.l gq_2 and Hq3)wero areal(y distributod over mtive soil
on the south percel (see Figuro 2), A fidd dupGcete hand auger boring, Hp-3X, was also coropeted,
Composite samples collected from these borings weoe analyzed for 6eavy metals. Heavy metals wece not
ddected ac concenhations :v6ich exceeded M'('CA Method A cleanup levds in samples collected from HA-1
or HA-2. Arsenic, cadmium and lead wero detxted in t1e sample collected from HA-3 at concentrations of
81+ 2•Z and 889 ppm, respectively. This locadon is east of the provious sample (S-53) collected during the
oSy Pre-nmedial site essessment. '1Le MTCA cleanup levels for these mUals are ?A ppm for arsenic,
_. 2 ppm for cadmium and 250 ppm for lead. Acsenic and Iead were elso detected in a duplicau sample
oacted from HA-3 at wncentrallons of 68 and 1,130 ppm, respectively. Cadmium was not detected in t6e
- duplicste sample (at a detection limit of 1.7 ppm).
5.2.2 Haod-Au¢er Bnrinoc a S n..a
Hand-auger borings four, five and six (HA-4, Iiq_5 and Hp-6) were located in native soils at the tce of
the consWction debris fill slope on the nonh pance, Composite samples collected fi,om these borings were
enelyzed for petmleum 6ydrocaibons and heavy metels. Petroleum hydrocarbons in the Leavy oil iange wero
identified in the samples collected from HA-5 and HA-6, however, upon further analysis, these compounds
were not quantifiable above t6e detection limit of 50 ppm. The cleanup level for these compounds is 200
_ PPm. Araenic, cadmium and lead wero detected in the samples collected from all three 6and-augers at
concentcatlons ranging from 273 W OS ppm for arsenic, 2.7 to 9.4 ppm for cadmium and 470 to 1,910 ppm
for lead, '!'hese cooceohations all oxceeded M'I'CA cleanup levels.
7
