collected from Test Pit 1, two additional test pits wero eucavated in t6e same area (Tast Pits lA and IB) to
fuither explore potential petroleum con►eminated soil. •
Test Pits IA and 1B
Test Pits lA and 1F!were located just soutland east, respectively, of Test Pit 1. Construction debris was
encountered betwezn 1.5 and 7 fa:t bgs in Test Pit lA and between 1.5 and ti feet bgs in Test Pit 1B. T6e
composition of the cowtruction debris encourtered in Test Pits lA and IB was similar to that encountaral
in Test Pit 1. Petroleum hydrocabons and VOCs were not detacted in samples collected from Test Piu IA
or 1B.
5.1.2 Test 't
Test Pit 2 was located at the eastem end of the nort6 paccel. Constmction debris was encounteced
betwcen 1.5 and 10 feet bgs and was limited to soil, asphalt and conerete.
Petrolwm hydrocarbons in the heavy oil range wero detected in t6e sample collected from 2 feet bgs at
a concenhation of 130 ppm and wece not detected ia the sample collected at a depth of 8 feet bgs. T6e
petroleum hydrocarbon conautratioa at 2 fcet bgs was below the MTCA Method A residendal soil cleanup
level.
5.1.3 est 't
Test Pit 3 was locate3 at the sout6an end of the notth parcel. Constmction debris wes encountered in
this test pit between 0.5 and 6 feet bgs. Stained soil was observed at a depth of approximauly 2 fxt bgs.
Duria excavation, other debris was observed, including the romains of a 55-gallon dcum, bottles, cans, end
automodve romnants.
Pdroleum hydmcarbons in the heavy oil tange and the diesel cange wero dUected in t6e samplellected
at 2 feet bgs at a concentcatioas of 1.7A0 PPm and 47 ppm, respectively. Pdrolwm hydrocarbons were not
duxted in t6e sample collxted at 4 feet bgs. T6e heavy oil concentraGon at 2 foet bgs is above the MTCA
Melhod A residential soil cleanup level.
prsenic and lead wero detected in the sampe wllectod at 4 feet bgs at concentratioas of 43 and 270 ppm,
respec6vely, eaceeding 1v[TCA oeanup levels (the cleanup level far lead in residential soil is 250 ppm).
Hased on the analytical esults of semples coUected from Test Pit 3,three additional test pits(3A, 3B and 3C)
were excavated in the same area.
Test Pit 3A
Test Pit 3A was located direcUY wast of Test Pit 3. Consuuction debris was encountered betwxn 0.5
and 5 fcet bgs. During excavation, other debris was observed including brick, ceramic material, as6, and
remnanu of e stove.
Petroleum hydrocarboos in the heavy oil range and diesel range were detected in t6e samples collected
from 2 and 4 bgs in Test Plt 3A at concentredons which ezcceded the MTCA Method A residenGal soil clean ,_.
up level. Heavy oil-range petroleum 6ydrocnctwns were deteeted at concentrations of 270 ppm at 2 fcet bgs
and 760 ppm at 4 feec bgs. Diesel-range petrolwm hydrocarbons were detected at concentrations of 1,100
ppm at 2 feet bgs and 1,400 ppm at 4 feet bgs. •
6 ►.
r+
