The residence that Mr. Hall is obviously referring to is located at 1318 Maryland Avenue. An exterior inspection of this residence was made on February 10, 1975, and I observed no hazards to the public or serious violations of the housing code, other than an obvious lack of maintenance and one broken window. The shrubbery around the residence has recently been trimmed and the refuse has not been removed, but other than that the grounds are reasonably clean. The building is vacant at the present time but it is secured against unauthorized entry and several lights are left burning to prevent vandalism. I have contacted the Fire Marshal's office and they are of the opinion that a fire is less likely to happen in a vacant structure than an occupied one. The owner of the property, Mr. Glen Ogden lives in Sunnyside, Wash- ington, and therefore, unavailable for comment. I have telphoned Mr. Hall to report our findings and he requested that we send a written response to him.
