November 20, 2006(
HWA Project No. 2006-000-21, Task 84
PROJECT LOCATION
The subject property consists of the developed portion of a lot located within the SG %,,
Section 07, Township 29N, Range 5E; situated at municipal address 624 Maulsby Lane,
in Everett, Washington (Snohomish County Parcel No. 00388613301300). The
approximate site location is depicted on Figure 1, the Project Site Location and Vicinity
Map. Based upon the site map provided by Gerald Van Slyck Architects, the new
additions are proposed at the northwest and southwest comer of the existing house.
PROPOSED ADDITIONS
As currently proposed, we understand that two small additions are proposed, neither of
Nwhich will extend the footprint of the house towards the slope. The proposed addition at
the northwest corner of the house is approximately 63 square IM in size and will extend
the current living room about 5 feet to the north. We understand that this addition will be
supported on piers so that the access to file basement window below this addition is
maintained.
We understand that the proposed addition to the southwest corner of the house will
extend west from the house about 4.5 feet into the area that is now comprised of a
concrete patio and planter. The addition will extend about 4 feet beyond the existing
south wall of the house and about 9 feet east and occupy approximately 181 square feet.
We understand that current plans are to saw cut and remove the portion of the patio and
planter that occupy the area of the proposed addition. The remaining patio and planter
are to remain.
Hence, as proposed, neither addition will encroach onto undeveloped property between
the existing house and top of slope. The western portion of the site plan depicting the top
ofthe slope and configuration of the proposed additions is shown on Figure 2.
13l 01111111tliv
Geologic information for the project area was obtained from the Geologic Alap of the
Afarysville Quadrangle, Snohomish County, 117ashington, compiled by James P. Millard,
in 1985, for the. United States Geologic Survey. According to this map, the near -surface
deposits in the vicinity of the subject property consist of Advance Outwash over
Transitional Beds. The Advance Outwash underlies Vashon Till. The Advance Outwash
is described as a thick section of mostly clean, gray, pebbly said, with increasing
amounts of gravel higher in the section. The Advance Outwash was deposited by
meltwater flowing from the advancing front of the Vashon glacier. The Transitional
Beds lie beneath the Advance Outwash and are described as thick beds of gray, clay, silt
and fine sand. The fine-grained sediment was mostly typically deposited mostly in lakes
some distancr Ann the ice front.
Muirhead Geologic Hazard Assessment 2 HWA GeoSciences inc.
