PORT OF EVERETT <br />NORTH MARINA REDEVELOPMENT <br />SHALLOW SOIL VCP CLEANUP ACTION <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.01 WORK INCLUDED <br />SECTION 01550 <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL <br />A. This sectior specifies requirements 1br control of onsite and offsite vehicle and <br />equipment traffic, cquipment staging, and site security during implementation of the <br />shallow soil cicanup action activities. <br />l .02 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Use of existing access roads shall be camed out in a manner that prevents movement of <br />contaminated malerials outside the designated work areas; minimizes dust emissions; <br />and is consistent with Contractor's site-specific health and safety plan and equipment <br />dccontamination procedures. Maintain site access roads and control traffic as required to <br />complete the work in an orderly and safe manner. Coordinate with the GC/CM and <br />designatc appropriaic truck traffic routes within the site. <br />B. Coordinate the work in a manner that minimizes the number of vehicle trips through thc <br />site or adjacent to areas occupicd by the Port's tenants, and emphasize the need for safe <br />vehicular use at all times by Contractor's employees, subcontractors, suppliers, <br />materialmen, and vcndors. Contractor's and subcontractor's traffic within and near the <br />site shall not interferc with the reasonable use of public streets by the general public. <br />C. Managc and implcment the work in a manner that reduces the adverse impacts of <br />equipment traffic, including noise and dust. Vehicle specd limits on all public streets <br />and private roadways shall be strictly observcd at all times. Vehicle speeds in the <br />project vicinity shall be controlled to minimize the generation of fugitive dust and to <br />promote the safety of workers and others present in Qie area. <br />D. Equipment accessing exdusion zones shall be properly decontaminated before exiting <br />thc eaclusion zones, and wastes or materials spilled or released from vchicles or <br />equipmer.t shall bc cleaned up immediately. <br />G. �xisting pavements to remain shall be: prolected from damage due to vehiculaz traffic; <br />maintained in a safe manner at all times or, when approved by the GC/CM, temporarily <br />dosed and suitaUly marked during the period of closure; and kept free of standing <br />liquids and accumulated dust, soil, or other deleterious materials that may cause injury to <br />personnel or cause em�ironmental hann. <br />P. The Port and the GGCM do not maintain security forces on the site. T'herefore, take full <br />responsibility for the safety and securiry of Contr�ctor's materials and equipment <br />deli��ered to thc site.
