� <br />a <br />' <br />1 <br />� <br />PORT OF EVERETT <br />W MARINE VIEW DR <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />CIP NO. 3-0-003-09 <br />PROJECTNO. <br />PD•WM-20006-01 <br />Storing or holding oi the HMH in approved storage facilities will be pertnitted during the daily <br />operation but in no event shall the HMA be held for more than 24 hours. HMA held for more than <br />24 hours after mixing shaff be rejected. Rejecled HMA shall be disposed oi by the Contractor at <br />no expense to the Contracting Agency. The storage tacility shall havc an accessible device <br />located at the top of the cone or about the third point. The device shall indicate the amount of <br />material in storage. No HMA shall be accepted from the storage facility when the HMA in <br />storage is below lhe top of the cone of the storage facility, except as the storage facility is being <br />emptied at the end of the working shiR. <br />5-04.3(8)A Acceptance Sampling and Testin�HMA Mixture <br />1. General. Acceptance of HMA shall be as provided under nonstatistical or commercial <br />evaluation. <br />Commercial evaluation will be used for Commercial HMA and for other classes of HMA in the <br />following applications: sidewalks, road approaches, d;tches, slopes, paths, trails, gores and olher <br />nonstructural applications as approved by the Engineer. Sampling and testing of HMA accepted <br />by commercial evaluation will be at the option of the Engineer. The proposal quantity of HMA <br />that is accepled by commercial evaluation will be excluded from the quantities used in the <br />detertnination of statistical and nonstatistical evaluation. <br />� 2 Aggregates. • <br />A. General Requirements. Aggregates for HMA shall be manufactured from ledge rock, <br />talus, or gravel in accordance with Section 3•01. The material from which they are <br />� made shall meet the following test requirements: <br />� Los Angeles Wear, 500 Revs 30% maz <br />Degradation Factor, Wearing Course 30 min <br />Degradation Factor, Other Courses 20 min <br />It shall be uniform in quality, substantially (ree from wood, roots, bark, extraneous <br />materials, and adherent coatings. The presence of a thu�. firtnly adhering 51m of <br />weathered rock will not be considered as coating unless it exists on more than 50% of <br />the surface area of any size between consecutive laboratory sieves. <br />Aggregate removed from deposits conlaminated with various types of wood waste <br />shall be washed, processed, selected or otherwise treated to remove sufficient wood <br />waste so that oven-dried material retained on a U.S. No. 4 sieve shall not contain <br />more than 0.1% by weight of material with a specific gravity less than 1.0. <br />B. Test Requirements.
