Prior to placing the PoRland cement concrete
pavement, any such irregularities shail be brought to the required tolerance by grinding or other
means approved by the Project Engineer.
When utility appurtenances such as manhole covers and valve boxes are located in the traveled
way, the roadway shall be paved before the utility appurtenances are adjusted to the finished
grade.
5-04.3(14) Planing Bituminous Pavement
The surface of existing pavements or lhe top surface of subsurface courses shall be planed to
remove irregularities and to produce a smooth surface.
Planing shall be performed in such a manner that the underlying pavement is not tom, broken, or
otherwise damaged by the planing operation.
