The marina water service feeds 350 hose bibs. AW WA method (fixture count) shows a peak
flow rate of I 58 gpm. AW WA recommended design capacity for a 2 inch displacement meter
(80% of capacity) is 130 gpm (maximum capacity of the meter is 160 gpm).
One - 2 inch meter is marginally over recommended capacity.
Two — 2 inch meters are more than adequate.
One 4 inch meter is tremendously over capacity (500 gpm) and is not warcanted.
We would even suggest that one twa inch meter would probably be adequate because:
I) This is a"interim" meter service. The pertnanent meter service and RPBA will be
moved to a new location at a proposed marina service building in about 2 years (with the
new parking lot construction noted above).
2) Pressure head loss from the increased Flow rate is not a concern at this location. Static
pressures is 1 I S psi per GIS map.
3) If the design peak flow rate is exceeded, the consequence is lower delivery rate at thc
hose bibs for that limited period of time.
4) Peak tlow rate will probably only occur during warm days when people wash boats.
Two sets of revised drawings are attached. A third set with the revisions noted by yellow high lighting is
also included for your convenience.
Please inform us as to your decision on items 5 nd G where we request modification of the revisions you
listed.
Thank you for the quick rcvicw of the design and your patience as this design evolved.
Pago 2 0( 2
C1Uocumenu anJ ScuingsU'A1ckY\I.ocal SettingsCl'em{rorary Intemet Files\OLl:l2trnomo_Paul MeRce 021905.doe
