P.U.D. - Jim Simpson, Bob Barr American Construction Co. - Andy Emery (superintendent), Ed Doern Solie (General Contractor) - Howard Spr3nger, Paul Solie At the request of Bob Barr, I went to the site to observe driving of piles to support the new circuit switcher. Before pile driving started, I discussed the following with Bob, Ed, Howard, and Jim: 1. Job specifications state that the minimum pile tip circumference should be 31 inches (1C-inch diameter). The soils report recommended a minimum pile tip diameter of at least 7 inches, Actual pile tip circumferences were 29 and 26 inches (9-inch and 8-inch diameter). This was acceptable to Snohomish P.U.D.. 2. WSDOT specifications state that timber piles should be banded, but the piles on site were not banded. Ed said he could band the piles, but fei`. it was not r.ecessary for the anticipated driving conditions. It was acceptable to Snohomish P.U.D. to drive the piles unbanded. 3. Job specifications called for Mc�-2 piles (marine piles), but the piles were not marked as such. Ed provided Bob with certification that the piles were MP-2. Pile drivino began about 12:30. Piles were driven from the bottom of the pile cap excavatiot�, which was about 3 feet deep, corresponding to about Elevation 16 feet. Both piles were driven to about depth 22.3 feet, correspond?ng to Elevation -6.3 feet. For the final full foot of penetration, allowable capacities of 42 Canversc Conwlfants NW �
