°NGINEENING / PUBLIC SEAWICES DEPAHMENT
May 7, 2007
Mr. Bob Murphy
P.O. Box 3284
Everett, WA 98213
RE: Owner: Murphy Building Co., Inc.
Job Address: 3018 W. Marine View Drive
Plan Check No: B0702-004
Dear Mr. Murphy:
In response to your application for a construction permit, your plans have been examined and
you are advised that the issuance of a permit is being withheld for the reasons listed below.
These comments address building issues only. Additional revisions, or additions, may be
required by other departments (such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the
2003 International Building Code, as amended by the Slate of Washington and adopted by the
City of Everett and the Washington State Energy Code, 2004 Edition, unless stated otherwise.
In order for the processing of your application to continue, it will be necessary to provide
the Building Division with Iwo complete new sets of drawings reflecting the corrections
requested.
Regarding Item 1 of the previous letter: I am enclosing a portion of the Pair (lousing
Act Design Manual which provides the scoping requirements of the 113C and ANSI
A117.1. A study of this will show that there are very few situations where the
requirements of IBC 1107.7.1 can be avoided and that none of these situations will apply
to the proposed building.
A review of your previous projects reveals two tri-plexes which are exempt, two four-
plexes which did include Type B units on the ground floor, and two identical four-plexes
which should have been provided with at least one accessible Type B units apiece.
Regarding Item 2 of the pre ious letter: The exit enclosure must be totally enclosed
with a fire barrier on all three levels. All door openings must have a mininwm assembly
rating of 'b hour in accordance with IBC 715. Please provide section details at horizontal
jogs in the enclosure and to verify compliance with IBC 706.4.
Regarding Item 5 of the previous letter: Please provide detailing necessary to verify
one -hour fire -resistive construction for the roof/ceiling assembly.
Regarding Item 12 of the previous letter: The enclosure design document is required to
contain a stamped statement in substantially the following form: "The undersigned has
provided building enclosure documents that in my professional judgment are appropriate to
satisfy the requirements of RCW 64.55.005 through 64.55.090.
CITY OF EVERETT • 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-3800 • Fax (425) 257-8856 CY 2
ou)iriacXM7RNnu.LxIM?02. +umeN.WRINEVILWD4i
