THE BUILDING WAS PERMITTED AS A TYPE II-N TYPE <br />CONSTRUCTION. (SEE BUILDING PERMIT 018662, DATED <br />8-19-87). THE CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY SHOWS THE TYPE OF <br />CONSTRUCTION AS TYPE V-N CONSTRUCTION. THIS IS <br />SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE OF THE SIZE LIMITATIONS THE UNIFORM <br />BUILDING CODE IMPOSES ON THE VARIOUS TYPES OF <br />CONSTRUCTION IN RELATIONSHIP TO THEIR USE. <br />IF THE BUILDING IS TRULY TYE V-N, IT MAY BE OVER ITS <br />ALLOWABLE AREA WITHOUT THE PROPOSED ADDITION. IF IT IS <br />TRULY TYPE II-N, IT COULD BE ENLARGED WITHOUT BEING IN <br />VIOLATION OF THE UBC LIMITATIONS. <br />SINCE IT IS PRESENTLY AN UNSPR!NXLEREO BUILDING, THIS <br />PROPOSAL MAY TRIGGER THE NEW CITY OF EVERETT SPRINKLER <br />_ <br />ORDINANCE. AT PRESENT IT IS A NON -CONFORMING, EXISTING <br />BUILDING. IT HAS NOT BEEN ACCEPTED PRACTICE TO MAKE ANY <br />NCN-CONFORMING BUILDING MORE NCN-CONFORMING. <br />1. FIRE FLOW - <br />BASED UPON 19,800 SO FT OF TYPE V-N, SUNSPRINKLERED <br />CONSTRUCTION, THE FIRE FLOW REQUIREMENT IS 3,750 GPM. <br />TYPE V-N, SPRINKLERED-1,900 GPM. <br />TYPE II-N,----------3,000 GPM. <br />TYPE II-N, SPRINKLEREO-1,500 GPM. <br />'...,. <br />THE NUMBER AND LOCATION OF HYDRANTS MAY VARY DEPENDING <br />,I <br />UPON THE FINAL FIRE FLOW REQUIREMENT. <br />THE ONLY ISSUE OTHER THAN THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM IS THE USE <br />( <br />OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. NO INFORMATION IS INCLUDED IN <br />THE PROPOSAL WHICH MIGHT INDICATE JUST WHAT USE IS TO BE <br />MADE OF THE NEW ADDITION. <br />! a <br />THE STORAGE, HANDLING AND USE OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS IS <br />SUBJECT TO THE REGULATIONS FOUND IN CHAPTER 9 OF THE <br />Y, <br />UNIFORM LUILDING CODE AND ARTICLE 80 OF THE UNIFORM FIRE <br />'ZODE. <br />
