The scientific
community is in agreement that: climate change is a reality, human activity is largely responsible
through the release of greenhouse gas emissions and that immediate actions to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions are both necessary and possible. Greenhouse gas emissions result
primarily from burning of fossil fuels. This resolution will take steps to inventory greenhouse gas
emissions, plan for reduction of such emissions and implement the Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design "Greenbuild" program for the City of Everett.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Adopt Resolution No. 23
Adopting and implementing the United States Greenbuild Council's "Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design"(LEED) Program
