6 <br /> HIGH SCHOOL <br /> SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER AGREEMENT <br /> THIS AGREEMENT made and entered into this 11th day of July , 2006 <br /> by and between the City of Everett, hereinafter referred to as the"City" and Everett <br /> Public Schools, hereinafter referred to as"District". <br /> WITNESSETH <br /> WHEREAS,the City and District believe that the safety of the students and the staff is <br /> of primary importance; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City supports the community policing philosophy and devotes resources <br /> to the promotion of programs that are proactive and preventive in nature; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City and District have participated in a School Resource Officer <br /> ("SRO") program wherein the City's police officers have been placed in the District's <br /> high schools within the City of Everett to help promote public safety in those schools; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the District wishes to continue to provide funding for the SRO program for <br /> its high schools located within the City of Everett in order to help promote public safety <br /> in those schools; and <br /> WHEREAS, by virtue of this Agreement, the parties desire to define the SRO program <br /> in the District's high schools located within the City of Everett; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS MUTUALLY AGREED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1: School Resource Officers <br /> A. Regularly employed City police officers will be assigned by the City to serve as <br /> School Resource Officers to Everett High School and Cascade High School. A total <br /> of two(2)officers will be assigned to serve as SRO officers pursuant to this <br /> Agreement. These officers will focus upon the more basic school safety and <br /> security issues that have become a matter of concern in our community. These <br /> officers will also patrol their schools and District sponsored events or activities in <br /> order to identify, investigate, deter and prevent incidents involving weapons, <br /> violence, harassment, intimidation, youth gang involvement or other similar <br /> activities. In addition, these officers will serve as a positive resource to provide <br /> school students, parents, teachers and administrators with information, support and <br /> problem-solving meditation and facilitation. <br /> B. It is agreed that the City will select the officer to be assigned to each school after <br /> consultation with the District. Each officer will be assigned to this school <br /> assignment function for his/her forty-two (42) hour work week minus any scheduled <br /> vacation time, sick time, training time, court time, or any other police related <br /> activity. <br /> 15 <br /> Tkohn/agreements/SRO 2006-2009 <br />
