The existing walls <br />and structure supporcing any new exterior walis required to be of one-hour fire <br />resistive construction should be revised to one-hour walls as well. Openings such as soffit or exhaust vents are not permitted less than 10 feet from the <br />northern property line. Table 5-A. <br />Construction <br />1. Guardrails should be shown not less than 42" in height. Section 509.2 <br />2. A guardrail should be provided at the exterior wall where the stairs are adjacent to a <br />window. Section 509.1 <br />3. The window within the stair enclosure at the main level should be shown as safety <br />glazing. Section 2406.4 <br />4. The shed dormer in Section A/4 should be shown with a minimum of 1" of <br />ventilation air space above the insulation. Calculations should be provided showing <br />the required attic ventilation. Section 1505.3 <br />5. Wall Sections B/5 and D/5 should be removed as they do not apply. <br />6. Typical Wall Section A/5 is not accurate, it should be revised to show the full <br />basement retaining wall condition. <br />Exiting <br />1. The new stair serves more than one adjacent level and should therefore be provided <br />with a stair enclosure per Section 1005.3.3.1. Based on that section the following <br />comments appty: <br />a) The stair enclosure should have minimum one-hour fire-resistive construction. <br />Section 1005.33.2 <br />b) The enclosure should be separated from the interior spaces with minimum 60- <br />minute fire-rated assemblies having maximum 450 degree temperature-rise <br />labels. Section 1005.3.3.5 <br />c) A barrier should be provided at the first story which prevents persons from <br />accidentally exiting into the basement.
