The International Fire Code requires that all new structures shall provide Fire <br />Department access roads to within 150 feet exterior walking distance of all <br />portions of the ground floor. Fire Department access roads (Fire Lanes) shall <br />provide a minimum of 20 feet in width of unobstructed, paved driving surface with <br />a minimum clear height of 13'6". Inside turn radii must be 35 feet. Slope <br />approach and departure angles must not exceed 10 degrees. Fire lane grade <br />must not exceed 15 percent. Fire lane construction must comply with AASHTO <br />H30 load capacity. Fire Lanes will be posted and maintained as required by the <br />Fire Department. The words 'NO PARKING - FIRE LANE' shall be in 3-inch stroke white <br />letters 18 inches in height, and placed 8 inches measured perpendicular <br />frorn the red paint striae on the pavement.
