Construction Monitoring Summary Letter
McClean Iron Works
2000 Ross Avenue
Everett, WA
March 13,2009
NGA File Ao. 790308
Page 2
less that one inch of movement during 20 seconds of continuous driving for the 4-inch diameter piles
and less than one inch of movement during 30 seconds of continuous driving for the 6-inch diameter
piles. The 4-inch diameter piles were advanced to between 60 and 107 feet below the existing ground
surface, while the 6-inch diameter piles were advanced to between 36 and 65 feet below the existing
ground surface, before refusal was met. We did not observe the installation of all of the piles on a
full-time basis, but observed re-tupping of all of the piles after they were installed. All piles observed
and/or re -tapped met the refusal criterion.
Based on our observations, discussions with the contractor, review of pile driving records, it is our
opinion that the pin piles were successfully installed and should provide adequate support for the
building and crane foundations and slab.
It has been a pleasure to provide service to you on this project.
