5 Description of Community Development Block Grant Program <br /> 1. Imagine Children's Museum — English language Learner Summer Program <br /> The Children's Museum will provide a summer enrichment program for low-income <br /> Hispanic/Latino children who are struggling to learn the English language. The program will <br /> help the children develop skills to overcome the enormous challenges they face, which are <br /> largely a result of their language barriers and economic status. <br /> 2006 appropriated funds $9,000.00 <br /> 2. Catholic Community Services - Volunteer Program Services <br /> This program will reimburse the transportation costs of volunteers providing services to <br /> clients residing within the city of Everett. <br /> 2006 appropriated funds $5,000.00 <br /> 3. Volunteers of America - Rental Housing Mediation Service <br /> This project provides neutral rental housing mediation to both owners and tenants of low <br /> income rental properties. <br /> 2006 appropriated funds $13,857.38 <br /> 4. Volunteers of America - Community Outreach and Support Services <br /> This is a public service, which attempts to assist families and individuals who are <br /> dependent on social services in becoming economically independent and self sufficient. <br /> 2006 appropriated funds $8,500.00 <br /> 5. Housing Hope — College of Hope <br /> CDBG funds will be used for the provision of life skills and employment training for <br /> homeless and at-risk households. The College of Hope program has been developed <br /> through a four-agency partnership designed to help homeless families secure <br /> compensation in key areas essential to self-sufficiency. <br /> 2006 appropriated funds $10,750.00 <br />
