The mayor is ^/ <br />hereby authorized <br />/ 1 <br />To close, or authorize closure, of any street or portion <br />thereof to any or all traffic pursuant to provisions of this / <br />code on an emergency or temporary basis; �LI <br />To authorize and install or contract for the installation n/ <br />of those traffic control measures described in this code <br />which are not specifically the responsibility of the City <br />Council, <br />To authorize the installation of traffic signals after <br />study and report by the City Engineer; <br />To designate any streets, parts of streets, or specific <br />lanes thereon upon which vehicutar traffic shall proceed in <br />ono direction during a given period and in the opposite <br />direction during another period of the day after study and <br />report by the City Engineer on an emergency or temporary <br />basis, <br />To designate a street as a part of the truck system after <br />study and report by the City Engineer. <br />Section 09-A. 46.14.305 City Council - Authority. <br />a. The City Council of the City of Everett, may, by <br />ordinance, after study and report by the City <br />Engineer and recommendations by the Mayor: <br />Designate any city streets or alleys for one-way <br />traffic; <br />Designate a street as an arterial street <br />Close or authorize closure, of any street or <br />portion thereof to any or all traffic, on a <br />permanent basis. <br />b. The City Council of the City of Everett, may by <br />resolution, after study and report by the City <br />Engineer and recommendation by the Mayor: <br />Establish parking motor zones, and prescribe the maximum <br />lengths of time for which vehicles may park in the parking <br />motor zone, <br />Designate street or alley areas where stopping, standtngs, <br />or parking shall be regulated, restricted, or prohibited. <br />Alter the speed limit on any street from the limits established <br />in Section 46.61.400. <br />Establish bus and taxi zones which shall be appropriately <br />marked and maintained and Shall be subject to the restrictions <br />and provisions of this title relating to such zones. <br />Establish funeral zones along the curb in any street adjacent <br />to funeral parlors or churches for the purpose of relieving <br />the congestion of traffic attendant to funeral services. <br />Establish along the curb in any street near the municipal <br />building, the fire stations, other city buildings and <br />installations and at such other places as may be reasonably <br />necoaeary, restricted parking zones for the purpose of <br />facilitating the work of the police, fire and other departments <br />of the city. <br />To establish no passing zones; <br />To authorize the installation of those traffic control _17- <br />measures described in this code which are not specifically <br />the responsibility of the mayor or the City Council; <br />-16- <br />a <br />`-I <br />
