I have a bachelors degree in drama and have been a professional musician for 35 years. I have been a performing member of the Everett Symphony Orchestra since 1985. I have also performed with numerous jazz groups and in musicals at the Everett Performing Arts Center and Everett Historic Theatre. I had the first band which performed at the Everett Events Center,for Housing Hope's annual fundraiser dinner. I have also performed and led bands for several City of Everett sponsored events, including Equinox (1980's),Music in the Parks,the Monte Cristo Neighborhood Awards annual reception(10 years),Parks Department volunteers' reception,and Everett Community College Foundation's annual fall festival of wines. I am a jazz recording artist and own my own record label and song publishing business. I have released two CD's of original jazz. Selections from these recordings have been used in movies and broadcast on cable TV and radio. I also have a piano tuning business. In addition to music and drama,I have education in urban,regional,and environmental planning, and I spent 30 years in the planning profession. I have professional training and experience in land use planning, shoreline management, environmental law, growth management law, census, demographics, forecasting, Community Development Block Grants,zoning, and site design. I have already served as a volunteer for the City of Everett's Board of Adjustment for 5 years,the last 2 years as the Board's chairman. I have been on the City's Block Grant Citizens Advisory Committee for the last 2 years. I am familiar with Everett's Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code,both through my work with the Snohomish County Planning Department and my service on the City's Board of Adjustment. I was a technical contributor to the Everett Naval Station siting studies and the Boeing 777 Expansion Environmental Impact Statement. I assisted Everett Planning Department staff in reviewing and preparing Census address lists and reviewing preliminary housing counts,to assure the best possible 1990 and 2000 Census counts.
