Ted Budden
From:
Ted Budden
Sent:
Friday, December 03, 2010 3:53 PM
To:
Traci Youmans
Cc:
Tony Lee
Subject:
2019 Rainier Ave
12/3/10
An inspection was performed by members of the Everett Building Department this Am. at 2019 Rainier Ave. The
purpose of the inspection was to assess the building for life safety hazards that could compromise the occupants.
This inspection occurred at the direction of the Code Enforcement Hearings Examiner and by mutual agreement with the
owner Mr. Moreno.
Findings:
1. The property has been substantially cleaned up and the conditions improved since my last inspection (6/4/10).
It should be noted that no imminent life safety hazards were observed during this inspection that would cause
the building to be considered unsafe to occupy.
2. The additions that were constructed without permits remain in place and will require alteration or removal to
achieve compliance.
3. The buildings electrical system has had prior work performed without permits, this work will require a state
licensed electrical contractor to survey the system and perform repairs. Electrical permits and inspection
approvals will be required for the necessary repairs.
4. The owners stated intention is to modify the unpermitted work in an approved manner, complete with plans,
permits and inspection approvals.
5. The owner is requesting relief from the proposed order only in terms of the time frame. (deadlines)
6. The owner is requesting that the deadline for obtaining the required permits be moved forward to January 31
2011. And the deadline for completion and approval of all the required work be extended to July 312011.
Summary:
Mr. Moreno has made substantial progress in good faith to achieve the required compliance. Most of the issues
pending are not of a life safety concern. The request for an extension of the proposed deadlines would not present
additional hazards to the occupants or the community.
The Building Department would like to assist Mr. Moreno achieve our mutual goals and would be agreeable to the
requested extensions, if this is possible.
I trust that this memo helps to clarify the outstanding questions regarding the pending action.
Ted Budden
Chief Inspector
Everett Building Division
