Section 10: <br /> Any employee who is sick and whose sick leave accrual has been exhausted must make a <br /> written request for leave of absence. Provided, however, upon an employee's request and <br /> approval of the Director of Transportation Services, vacation accrual may be used to <br /> supplement exhausted sick leave. In such cases vacation accrual shall be reduced accordingly. <br /> Section 11: <br /> Subject to the Civil Service rules where applicable, the Director of Transportation Services may <br /> suspend or dismiss any employee from City employment who fraudulently uses sick leave. <br /> Section 12: <br /> Employees who have successfully passed probation shall be allowed, upon voluntary <br /> separation, retirement or in situations of reduction in force from City employment, to receive a <br /> payment equal to ten (10) percent of the value of their then existing sick leave accrual <br /> balances. <br /> Effective August 13, 2014, employees who have successfully passed probation shall be <br /> allowed, upon voluntary separation, retirement or in situations of reduction in force from City <br /> employment, to receive a payment equal to fifty (50) percent of the value of their then existing <br /> sick leave accrual balances. <br /> 17 <br />
