ARTICLE 12 - BEREAVEMENT LEAVE <br /> When death occurs among members of any employee's immediate family, the employee, upon <br /> request to the Director of Transportation Services, will be granted reasonable and necessary <br /> time off to make arrangements as needed and to attend the funeral and will be compensated at <br /> his/her normal salary for the hours lost from his/her regular schedule before or after the funeral <br /> with a maximum of four (4) days allowance if working. This time off shall not be deducted from <br /> accumulated sick leave or vacation. <br /> Members of an employee's immediate family shall be defined as "spouse, domestic partner, <br /> mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, parents of domestic partner, grandparents, <br /> grandchildren, brother, sister, son, daughter, stepchildren, children of domestic partner, <br /> stepparents". <br /> Effective August 13, 2014, members of an employee's immediate family shall be defined as <br /> "spouse, domestic partner, mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, parents of domestic <br /> partner, grandparents, grandchildren, brother, sister, son, daughter, stepchildren, children of <br /> domestic partner, stepparents, grandparents-in-law, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law". <br /> "Domestic Partner" is defined for purposes of this article as the criteria outlined by the City's <br /> Domestic Partner resolution or the State Registry. Proof of criteria may be requested. <br /> 18 <br />
