IDRAFT
 .__
REPORT
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERINC SERYICES
PROPOSED NORTH PARKING LOT
BOEING COMMERCIAL AIRPLAN GROUP
EVEREi7, WASHINGTON
INTRODUCTION
T'his report prtsents the results of our geotechnical engineering services for the proposed
North Parlcin.q Lot at the Boeing Eerett facility. The aite is located in the northem portion of
tbe Boeing Everett facility with adjaceot areas cons(atIng of the North Peruneter Road to the
south,a steep cut slope to the sedimentation ponds on the west, undeveloped property to the nonh
and a wildlife corridor to Qe eact. A vtcinity map is presented as Figure 1.
We understand that developmer.t of the site may eventually include consWction of buildings
in addition to the paved pazking lot. However, the configuration and location of any fueure
buildings is uncertain at this time. We also underatand that the boundazies of the proposed
, pazking lot aze constrained by considerations identified in the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group
, Final EIS (EnvIronmental Impact Statement). 71ese coaviderations include ateep slope and
landslide hazard areas, erosion hazard areat, adjacent wildlife corridora and on-site moisture
sensitive soils. Our unders -ading of these factora is baced on discussions with vazious Boeing
representadves and our review of pertineot sectioat of the EIS.
We have provided prelimtnary development coasiderations for eanhwork and erosion
control measures in a letter dated lune 16, 1992. The letter addresses a proposed adjustrnent of
the EI5 boundary w accommodate a setback from the western steep slope, the eaztem slope and
the wildlife corridor.
SCOPE
The purpose of our services is to ezplore the subsudace soil and ground water conditions
at the site to provide the basia for developing geotechnical recommendations for design and
conswction of the proposed parking lot. Our specific scope of services inciudes the following:
1. Review hiswrical design and coasuvction information peninent to the develc+ped azeas
adjacent to ihe site. 7'his includes revi w
e of available photographs, topographic drawin s
8
and design draw(ngs.
2. Condua a geologic reconnaissance of the site.
• 3. Evaluate subsudace soil end ground water conditions across the site by excavating 16 test
pts to depths of 6 to 17 feet and drilling 6 borings W depths of 12.5 to 38 feet, Iateall
piezometers in the borings to monitor ground water as appropriate.
G e o E n y i n e e r ] Rle No.0124154A10416:292
