FLOOD INSURANC� STODY February 11, 1976 (Council IIill 762-45) Reid Shockey presented'a'few slides of the flood area in Everett.. He then introduced George Herron of the H.U.D., Seattle Regional Office, who explained the flood insurance for existing construction. He said existing construction is covered under the subsidy for flood insurance, but that new construction after a study had been made of the flooding problem, would have to be built level with or above the 100-year flood level in order to get federal guaranteed financing. Dave LaFrance of the Water Resource Division of the United States Geodetic Survey, explained how this flood study was being made. Iie said a full report will. be available to anyone in the city so that those people living in the flood plain would know the restrictions for new construction in order to obtain insurance.
