a7 <br />March 17, 1976 <br />RESOLUTION {Council Bill 763-81) <br />Moved by Councilman Aldcroft, seconded by Councilman Ebert to <br />adapt Resolution No. 1129 as follows: <br />Resolution authorizing the filing of an application with the <br />Department ��f. Transportation, United States o£ �lmerica, for a <br />qrant under the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as <br />Amended. <br />Whereas, the Secretary of Transportation is authorized to make <br />qrants for mass tran:portation projects; <br />Whereas, the contract for financial assistance will impose cer- <br />tain obligations upon the applicant, including the provision by <br />it of. the local share of project costs; <br />Whereas, it is required b� the U. S. Department of Transporta- <br />tion in accorcl with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights <br />Act of 1964, that in connection with the filing of an application <br />for assistance under the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as <br />Amended, the applicant give an assurance that it will comply with <br />Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1969 and the U. S. Department <br />of Transportation requirements thereunder; and <br />Whereas, it is the goal of the Appli.cant that minority business <br />enterprise be utilized Y.c the fullest extent possible in connec- <br />tion with this project, and that definitive procedures shall be <br />established and administered to ensuze that minority businesses <br />shall have the maximum feasible opportunity to compete for con- <br />tracts when procuring construction contracts, supplies, equipment <br />contracts, or consultant and other services: <br />Nuw, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of <br />Everett: <br />1. That the Mayor is authorized to execute and file an applica- <br />tion on behalf of the City of Everett with the U. S. Depart- <br />mant of Transportation, to aid in the financing of t;ie <br />operations of the Everett Transit System. <br />2. That the Mayor is autnorized to execute and file caith such <br />application an assurance or any other docunent required by <br />the U. S. Department of Transportation effectuating the pur- <br />poses of Title VI of the Civil Ri.ghts Act of 1964. <br />3. That Robert C. Anderson, Mayor, is authorized to £urnish <br />such additional information as the U. S. Department of Trans-- <br />portation may require in cbnnection with the application or <br />the project. ' <br />�4. That the Mayor is authorized to set forth and execute affirma- <br />tive minority business policies in connection wiih the project's <br />procurement needs. <br />Roll was called witli all Councilmen voting yes except Councilr.ian <br />Langus who voted no, and Councilman Kinch who was excused. <br />Motion Carried <br />u <br />II <br />
