 Robert K. Royce
o, Jamie G. Johnson

onle July 1 1975
urc, IOOF Building .. .. i.. . .., . __ .i., ...
5217 South Second
Everett, taashington
The above referenced building was inspected by t}iis department, on
June 3C, 1975, and several discrepancies to the City IIuilding Cdes
were found.
The building is of unprotectedooodframe (type V-N) construction
containing a total of 12, 550 square f.et of area on all fluors and
the last known usages were that of retail and residental apartment
on the first and second floors and assembly use on the third floor
which consti:utes a mixed occupancy of , F, and H use groups.
Section 50? rea, uires that the F,znd H occupancies be separated
from B occupancies by a nne-hour fire resistive separation in compliance
with table 43C, item 27 including footnote 19.
However, Group B occupancies of fire resistive wood frame co;istructior.
is limited to two stories. Therefore, assembly (b) use would not be
permitted on the third floor.
The following discrepancies and other corrective work will have to be
completed before the bui].ding will conform to the code requirements
for a new buildin9 and occupancy permited.
1. The building will have to be made one-hour fire resistive,
throughout, this includes all floors, ceilings, columns,
posts, beams, iieaders, girders, joists, interior walls, and
exterior and interior far_es of all exterior walls, as set
fort; in tables 43 P.. B. and C., or the building can be
equipped throughout, with an automatic fire extinquishing
system as set forth in chaper 39 of the building code.
2. Exits will have to be orovided in allareas on ail floors in
complainace with Chapter 33 of the cuilding code. This
requirement cannot be determined unt;l such a time as a
floor plan is provided showing the proposed uses of the
Uuilding.
3. All balconies, stairs, landings, corridors, guard rails, and
hand rails shall. also complr with Chapter 33 of the code.
d. All occupied areas shall be provided wich natural li9ht and
venti:Lation by means of windows as set forth in Part III of.
the co,9e. Approved complying mechanical systems may be use::
in liecv of windows.
5. The kitchen must r.omply with codes as a commercial kitchen
and be spproved b• the Snohomish County liealth District.
