UT- _,IT==.S
INTRODUCTION
Utilities are services which produce and carry electric
power, gas, sewer, communications, and oil. At this
time the most feasible methods of transporting are the
lineal ones of pipe and wires. Installation of this
equipment necessarily disrupts the landscape, but can
usually be planned to have minimal visual and physical
effect on the environment.
Along Everett's shoreline the primary utility activity
in the future will occur in support of industrial and
port expansion. We can also expect some utility re-
quirements for recreation and commercial activity.
POLICIES
1. New utility activities in the shoreline area should
improve existing uses and/or potential uses of the
land and result in the appropriate development of
the shoreline areas.
2. Utilities should be located to meet future needs and
serve areas planned to accommodate this growth.
3. To the extent feasible utility easements will be
incorporated into the City's Parks and Open Space
Plan intended to increase public access to the
water.
4. New utility installations in the shoreline area
shall be designed to be aesthetically pleasing.
5. Sewage treatment plants should be located where
they do not interfere with and are compatible with
use of the water and shoreline areas.
6. Storm drainage and sanitary sewer systems operating
in shoreline areas should not adversely affect water
quality nor interfere with use of the shoreline and
the water area.
EXHIBIT 5
SHORELINE .ASTER PROGr M FOR
IV-53 CITY Cr EVERETT - EXCERPTS
P. 1 of 6
