. <br /> , . , , <br /> : Variance Requested: From E.M.C. 19.40.020, Parking, to allow construction <br /> of a mixed use office and shoppinB center that would <br /> pr�vide 350 parking stalls instead of the 390 <br /> required by Code. <br /> Zoning: B-2, Community Shopping <br /> Don Wood suc�marized the Staff Report (see Varlance File No. 6-86) and showed a <br /> view foil of the site plan. The parking off Evergreen Will be reserved for <br /> the retail space and the offices will be required to use the parking off <br /> Rainier. In response to questions from the Board, Mr. Wood stated that <br /> Vil.lage Square has 60 parking spaces and for retail use they would need 120 <br /> during peak times, but that it is partially used as office. Both properties <br /> are under one ownership. The City Traffic Engineer has reviewed the traffic <br /> analysis and is in agreement with what is stated. • <br /> Bob Butterfield, 606 Morgan Road in response to a question from the Board <br /> stated that Casey's was closed as of midnight tonight. <br /> Annie and Ernie Gunderson� 7314 Olympic Drive spoke regarding the rear parking <br /> lot which is used as a drinking hangout at night. Mrs. Gunderson stated they <br /> were also concerned that Rainier Drive not be opened to the south. They Were <br /> not opposed to the pro,7ect and felt it would be an improvement to the area. <br /> Mr. Wood stated the Applicant was aware of the hangout problem and was trying <br /> to work something out to correct the problem. <br /> No one else spoke for or against the pro,ject. <br /> Motion: Mr. Hoagland moved to grant the variance as recommended. Mrs. <br /> Sullivan seconded the motion. <br /> Vote: Mr. Miller stated he fe1L- the staff findings and conclusions were <br /> appropriate and voted yes in support of the staff recommendation.
