Project design provides complete smoke and fire safety
consistent with the intent of he Building Code. The smoke
detection and evacuation system from the housing modules
actually exceeds required standards as required by the Cor-
rections Standards Board. The building is completely
sprinkled with the allowable exception of individual jail
cells.
Item =5: Complete mechanical plans are furnished. See M 8 E drawings
part 2 of 2, specifically M14-M21. Appropriate signage will be provided as part of
Secticn 10440, page 17 and 18.
Item r2: Handicapped accessible toilets and showers are available to
inmates, public, and staff on Level 1, see sheet A3,3. On the
housing floors, accessible showers and cells are available for
inmates on Level 3 (cell #325 and shower a327), Level 4 (cell
#414 and shower #416) and Level 5 (cell P514 and tub room
#505). In addition, the medical housing cells on Level 5 are
handicapped accessible and are served by accessible tub room
and shower (cells #545-552, tube room a541, shower #542). We
feel the building design complies with the intent of the code
while meeting security requirements. Level S1 toilets and
housing floor staff toilets were not designed as accessible
because the user requirements preclude nonambulatory staff in
these areas.
Bruce M Walker.
