Moore
Mayor, City of Everett
City Hall
Everett, WA 98201
Dear Mayor Moore:
MMHW D
0 CT N9 1 1982
CITY OF EVERETT
Puh4 wl. 6. nloh
At the time of our application for a special use permit for the County's new
detention facilities, it was determined that the adjacent sewer main lacks
capacity for the new jail and that permit was approved subject to the condition
that:
"3. The existing sewer main in the alley west of the proposed
building is undersized and will have to be upgraded to
handle the increased load."
The County is to reapply to the Hearing Examiner on this item and other budget -
contingent conditions when its budgetary processes have been satisfied.
In September, our Project Manager and Architect met with Mr. Dennis Gableman
of your Public Works Department to coordinate design of the sewer main. In
the course of that meeting, Mr. Cableman advised us of the City's plans to
construct a new 21 inch sewer main in the block to the east, flowing north to
Hewitt Avenue.
These discussions identified an opportunity for the County to obtain its
required services by constructing a sub -main, in Wall Street, between the
new jail and the City's new 21 inch main; and, by making localrevisions
to sewer services for the Carnegie and work release buildings.
Discussions between our staffs further indicated that such a project would be
most economically completed, and best coordinated, if the project were
designed and constructed concurrently with the City's own project, with
appropriate means to separate costs for the County's portion of the work.
