Box 1482 <br />Spokane, Washington 99210 <br />Attention: Mr. Gordon Ruehl I. <br />Re: Snohomish County Detention Facilities <br />Dear Gordon: <br />This is to confirm with you that it will not be necessary <br />to install fire dampers in the five (5) in. dia. suT;ply air ducts <br />that pass through the shaft walls in the individual cell areas. <br />I have conferred wish Mr. Walter Cooper (Fire Marshal), <br />Mr. Douglas Budden (Chief Inspector), and Mr. Brian Waugh (Building <br />Inspector) in a meeting at City Hall on December 16, 1982. It is <br />due to the following considerations that we feel that the fire <br />dampers are not needed. <br />1. The cross sectional area of penetration is less than <br />twenty (20) sq. in. <br />2. A fire damper of such small size will not be effective <br />and thus will not be practical. <br />3. There are other fire protection devices in the cell <br />areas. <br />It is our intention to provide a safe and practical system for <br />the new detention facilities.
