Instead of spending time searching through the WSEC and VIAQ Code,these forms will <br /> help organize and condense requirements that apply to your project. They are also excellent rools for leaming <br /> the residential WSEC requirements. <br /> QualificaHon pages: There aze 6 different Qualification pages,based upon fuel type(e]ectric resistance �r <br /> other),compliance approach(Prescriptive or Chap:er 5 Calculations)and construction type (logs or other). <br /> The PrescripHve OpHons(Chapter 6) approach includes a Table of options,one of which you will select,`.r <br /> your particular design. Choose a compliance option that best suits the econoatics and design of your project. <br /> The Chapter 5 QualificaHon Form is a second compliance approach and allows a builder more flexibility for <br /> altemative methods of construction and more window azea.The Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 Window,SkyHght <br /> and Door Schedules provide outlines to assist you through the specific calculations and requirements for <br /> doors and glass. <br /> The Checkliat Requiremenb aze grouped under Foundation,Framing,InaulaHon,and Fuul Phaaee. Each <br /> phase leb you know what,and when requirements will be checked by the inspector. You provide information <br /> and check the circles that apply to your specific project. Because the form is inbended to rnver most design <br /> vaziations,many of the listed requiremenfs won t apply to a given project. Do not place mazks in the two left <br /> side shaded columns labeled"COMPLIANCE REQUIRED" and"INSPECITON APPROVED"or in the boxes <br /> located in shade�i azeas(These ue for Department use). <br /> Responsibility for inforntaHon: Although designated Depar�ent staff atembers will help you with general <br /> questions about completing this iorm,it is ultimately your responsibility to provide detailed inEormation <br /> about heating systems,glazing,insulation and other requested building spedfications.Since these forms will <br /> be evaluated for completeness and accuracy,you can avoid unnecessary permit delays by carefully providing <br /> all required information. Disregazd items that don't address your particulaz building or co,uipment <br /> Design Changes: Be sure to get prior approval from the Deputment if you wish M make changes in your <br /> project during construction. <br /> How the forms will be used: These forms will ultimately be used for all WSEC field inspections. When they <br /> aze returned with your perarit,relevant boxes under the"COMI'LIANCE REQUIRED"column will have been <br /> checked by the Building Departrnent. This denotes which WSEC requirements apply to your project The <br /> inspector will inspect your dwelling against these checked items,and when deemed accephable,place a <br /> sxond check in the"INSPECTION APPROVED"column. <br /> Code Books: For more requirement detail,refer to the 1997 Washington State Energy Code and the 1997 <br /> Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality Code.
